The Zeta Omicron Chapter Housing Corporation of the Sigma Chi Fraternity

The Zeta Omicron Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity Housing Corporation has made two recent purchases for the Zeta Omicron Chapter Room in the Sigma Chi Wing of Mountain View Hall on the NAU campus.  The first, in September, is a new 55" Vizio Flat Screen television.  The Housing Corp. alloted funds made from last March's Shoes N' Brews.  Mike Himelfarb, ZO '73, our electronics advisor, sourced a good deal for about $1,200.00. Ted Decker ZO '75 and Wayne Connelley ZO '75 drove the TV to NAU and installed it.  The chapter got the university facility staff to mount it on the wall in the chapter room.  House Manager/Risk Management Chairman Cody England, ZO '15, makes sure the chapter room is secure and locked at odd hours.  The chapter loves the TV and its helped bring the chapter together.
The second, a pre-owned leather sofa was found by Wayne Connelley at a local Phoenix antique store and the Housing Corp. approved $400.00 for its purchase.  It is now in the Zeta Omicron Chapter Room.
These are great additions to a chapter room that is in sore need of upgrades. In the next few weeks the ZO Housing Corp. will be looking at further upgrades.  The remaining furniture are "hand-me-downs" and the original "uncomfortable" university-provided furniture which has been in the dorm since it opened in 1990.  Also, the Housing Corp. is negotiating with the University to have certain long-term physical items repared in the Wing.  This has been a challenge since the University originally budgeted $-0- for repair and maintenance for 2011-2012.  The University has responded to potentially hazardous electrical and sanitation issues.
