ZO Chapter History

Below is a 1949 photo of the living room of Omega Chapter of Sigma Chi at Northwestern University.  This photo is from an article in LIFE magazine.
Zeta Omicron Chapter founder Art Schilling originally pledged at Omega Chapter at Northwestern before transferring to NAU (then Arizona State College-Flagstaff) in 1961 to play varsity football and baseball.
When Art arrived at ASC-Flagstaff, student housing was scarce so the College was renting hotel rooms for students.  Art roomed with David Eagleburger and Jim Zaharis, both from Mesa, at Andy Womack's Flamingo Motor Hotel on S. Milton Ave. across from the College.  This is where the idea for a Sigma Chi chapter at NAU began.  Schilling, Eagleburger, and Zaharis became the founders of Sigma Chi Omega Colony.  The site is now the Barnes & Noble bookstore.
